There are different techniques to stimulate skin collagen formation, including topical creams, needling, fractional laser, or the most recent technique being radiofrequency. Each of these methods has its advantages and disadvantages, for example, we can’t reach a deep collagen stimulation with topical creams or needling.
Fractional laser whilst the collagen stimulation is quite good, the recovery time is extensive and the complications including scarring and skin pigmentation problems are not uncommon. With the radiofrequency technique, however, downtime is very short and the outcome is as good or even better than fractional laser with almost minimum complications. We use both invasive and non-invasive radiofrequency to improve skin quality.
One of the most commonly applicable areas for skin tightening is below the eyes with those fine wrinkles that don’t respond much to dermal fillers or muscle relaxing injections. Usually, patients end up with risky and expensive lower eyelid blepharoplasty. Using radiofrequency can help to improve those wrinkles significantly and postpone the need for surgical intervention.
