If you’re a first-time lip filler client, we’ve created a guide for you to aid in your post treatment care.
Firstly, it is important to remember that individual experiences and outcomes may vary, and if you have any concerns always contact the physician who performed the treatment for the best medical advice.
Our first aftercare tip is to think ahead! Any bruising or swelling can last up to 3 weeks post treatment, so ensure when you are booking your appointment that you don’t have any special events within that time frame.
To help swelling, apply ice to the treated area! Anything Zooper Dooper shaped is a great idea. Massaging your lips gently when the discomfort eases will promote an even distribution. Along with this, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and eat a range of healthy foods. You might want to avoid anything too salty as well, as this will dehydrate you.
What else to avoid? Refraining from any strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours is recommended! Smoking cessation is also advised, along with taking any blood thinning medication. You also want to wait 2 weeks before flying anywhere to avoid adverse reactions such as intense swelling.
A helpful reminder after getting lip fillers is that the volume will not be what you initially see in the first few days. Nor the first 2 weeks. Your lips will settle at around the 4-week mark. We always recommend coming back in for a checkup 2-4 weeks after your filler, in case there are any further questions you have, and so that we can see the progress. Your result is really important to us!
