Common Anti-Wrinkle Misconceptions

  1. That Anti-Wrinkle injections are painful. Inherently, this is not true. Although everyone experiences pain on different levels, an Anti-Wrinkle injection is usually compared to a mosquito bite or a slight pinching feeling. As well as this, when performed by an experienced cosmetic injector, there are techniques used to ensure minimal discomfort.
  2. That Anti-Wrinkle injections are unsafe/dangerous. Completely false! The most prominent Anti-Wrinkle brand, Botox, has been used for just over 30 years in the aesthetic medical environment. Previous to this, Botox was first used by Ophthalmologists for medical conditions such as spasticity and eye twitches. Like any treatment or drug, there can be side effects that arise subject to the individual, however, Anti-Wrinkle injections are typically non-invasive and have little to no downtime.
  3. Anti-Wrinkle Injections will create a frozen and unnatural face. Anti-Wrinkle injections are not about getting rid of the lines, but more so, preventing deeper lines. Like any procedure, it can be overdone, however, this more so lies in the wants of the client and how far your cosmetic injector is willing to go. Most experienced and holistic injectors will advise you on how much is too much.
  4. Dermal Filler and Anti-Wrinkle injections are the same thing. Nope! There are a few types of Dermal Filler, however, Dermal Filler is an injectable implant that is used to plump the skin or smoothen the appearance of static lines (lines that are present without facial movement). Anti-Wrinkle injections on the other hand prevent the muscles from moving to reduce wrinkles and dynamic lines (lines that are present with facial movement).
  5. Anti-Wrinkle injections are only for women. False! Anyone can have Anti-Wrinkle injections, and a sizeable portion of Elinay Cosmetic’s clients are male. There is a long-standing stigma around cosmetic surgery for men due to a number of factors. Despite this, men tend to have similar skin/aging concerns and find the same benefits as women. In future years, it would be great to see the number of male patients at the clinic level to female patients. We want to ensure that men get the same chances to look and feel better, without the stigma!
  6. Face cream/skincare is cheaper and more effective than Anti-Wrinkle injections. Whilst diligent skincare application can improve the appearance of your skin, as well as certain skin conditions, it is not always the appropriate treatment for getting rid of lines and wrinkles. Anti-Wrinkle injections are introduced under the skin, targeting nerves and muscles. Anti-wrinkle injections will have a quicker effect, act deeper, and essentially be a more effective treatment.
  7. Anti-Wrinkle Injections can be performed by anyone. No, only a licensed medical professional is permitted to administer Anti-Wrinkle injections. It is also important to consider experience and professional style when looking to get Anti-Wrinkle injections. Our approach at Elinay Cosmetic is holistic and long-term, meaning we want to make sustainable changes for you that will continue to serve you in years to come.
