Excess Eyelid Surgery
Upper Eyelid Surgery ( Upper eyelid Blepharoplasty)
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove excess folding skin and bulging fat pad from upper eyelid to improve the wrinkles and puffiness of the upper eyelid. This surgery can be done to improve aging upper eyelid or in some ethnicity to give more definition to the upper eyelid.
If the excess skin in upper eyelid interferes with patient’s vision which can even get rebate from Medicare.
Procedure is performed under light sedation (twilight) and local anaesthetic injection. Your eyes would be covered with protective shields during the procedure, you will be able to communicate with your surgeon during procedure however the procedure would be painfree (except the injections themselves of course). Before procedure your photos will be taken and the markings will be done and your surgeon will discuss the amount of skin that is going to be taken out. After removal of the excess skin and if needed the extra fat from your upper eyelid area the wound will be closed gently to get the best possible cosmetic outcome. Sutures would be mostly absorbable however some would need to be take out after five days just for your comfort. You might experience some swelling or even bruising around your eyes which usually settles down in few days. Although some bruising could take two to three weeks to settle. You might also experience blurred vision temporarily and also dry eyes for few days. Some people have been able to return to their work after five days but mostly go back after seven to ten days although wearing sunglasses and using make up could help.
